Sierra Leone Child Sponsorship
Christ Community Church has the opportunity to partner with New Harvest Ministry by financially sponsoring young students in Sierra Leone in their quest for a quality education in the ministry schools. These are students from impoverished families who have little resources in acquiring necessary shoes, books, bags, food, transportation, and uniforms. Though public education is free and at times accessible, classroom sizes can reach 80 - 90 students, teachers are overworked and under paid, and classroom learning materials are mostly nonexistent.
This is where New Harvest has stepped up and is providing educational opportunities for poor children. The education in the New Harvest schools is centered on the gospel of Christ. It has well motivated teachers, smaller numbers of children per classroom, and an environment more conducive to teaching and learning. Even poor children have the opportunity to grow both spiritually and educationally. In the words of Mohamed Shariff, a Godly educator in the New Harvest schools, “Without an educated youth there will be little or no hope for the future of the nation. Violence will be rampant, peace illusive and fragile in this war torn nation, and God’s people will suffer.”
To right these wrongs and rewrite the history of the nation of Sierra Leone, we have the opportunity for Godly intervention carried out by God’s people. In creating scholarship opportunities for the youth of this nation, we can both give hope to these young people, and work to expand the Kingdom of Christ.
WHAT YOUR MONTHLY DONATION PROVIDES:
Your donation of $50.00 per month will provide funding to cover New Harvest Ministry school fees, basic learning materials, and a minimal allowance to help cover lunch and transportation costs.
RECIPIENTS OF YOUR DONATION:
Your donation will go to a specific child with a drive to be educated, who is less privileged in some way, perhaps is an orphaned child, is reared by single parents, or is suffering from abject poverty.
SENDING YOUR DONATION:
We want to encourage you to give your first fruits (10% of your income) to your local church. Please do not use your tithe (10%) to make donations for sponsorship.
Make your checks payable to “Christ Community Church” and put New Harvest Sponsorship Program on the memo line. Please make your donation by the 10th of each month. We have your name matched with your sponsored student’s name to credit your account. Attach a note with your student’s name if you are donating with cash. The volunteer coordinator will be your contact and will track your giving record.
Our desire is to see that these children have their needs cared for physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Your long term, monthly commitment can help make this happen!
By committing to sponsor a student, you are giving our partner ministries the option of opening up their doors to one more students. Once a student enters this program, we want to see them offered that opportunity until they complete their secondary education. That means that we need you to prayerfully make this commitment and faithfully follow through. If you are not able to make a commitment up to the time the student leaves the program, please indicate the number of years that you would like to commit. We urge you to commit to pray for your sponsored student on a regular basis.
