When Paul and Barnabas heal someone in Lystra and Derbe, the people attempt to worship them. Instead, Paul and Barnabase insisted that they were mere humans, not above anyone else. Refusing to become celebrities, heroes, or gods, they instead embraced hardships for the sake of the one who is to be worshiped. They undermined the idolatry of their age, and pointed to the one who deserves to be elevated.
