Helping people with more than just food

The Aurora Food Pantry has been meeting people’s physical needs by offering food, but they do so much more. This story was shared with me about how Becky’s life was changed with the help of the Food Pantry. Her husband, Lenny, was diagnosed with colon cancer and could no longer provide for them as the breadwinner of the house. They sought help from the Aurora Food Pantry. Listen to Becky’s story of hardship. She lost her husband, her mother, and her best friend, and throughout all of the pain, was able to find hope with the help of the Pantry.

There are so many stories like Becky’s! The Aurora Food Pantry has always been looking to end hunger by making sure everyone has access to good, nutritious food. By making sure the people are healthy, ensures the community is healthy.

The Aurora Food Pantry has been busy!

Things have not slowed down at the Food Pantry! They just started their delivery service, “Pantry To-Go” in February to meet the needs of people who do not have access to transportation or may be dealing with health issues that prohibit them from visiting.

They started “Children’s Pop-Ups”, which is providing kid-friendly meal supplies to communities that may not be able to get to the Food Pantry during the week. They even just had their first virtual benefit!

This week The Aurora Food Pantry had a big Easter Basket Giveaway for people who registered for the event! They packed 300 baskets for parents to pick up for their kids full of goodies!

Awesome Upcoming Events

In April, The Aurora Food Pantry will begin fundraising for a new roof.  They have been needing one for a while but it is quite pricey! Stay tuned to hear about how you can help in this fundraising.

April 22nd will be their Earth Day Garden Fundraiser to raise funds for the “Giving Garden,” which will help provide fresh, organic produce for neighbors of the Food Pantry.

May 14th is the Ribbon Cutting for The Hartford Patio Space.

May 26th is their Veterans/Memorial Day Pantry for current and past service members and families of fallen soldiers.

Volunteer with the Food Pantry

You can become a “Hunger Hero” by being one of 35-40 people needed to volunteer for distribution days! You can click HERE to find out ways to volunteer.

Since they cannot accept large groups right now, they have smaller groups every day that help with distribution.

Thank you, Aurora Food Pantry, for giving food and hope to the Aurora Community!
