2020 Tax Stewardship Webinar
October 8 from 7-8 pm
It is a massive understatement to say that much has changed in 2020. In fact, you could say that change is a constant in our world at this time. Included in the list of changes are some critical tax law changes that may allow people to support their Church and other charities in significant ways, even in these difficult times. We hope to be a helpful resource to you as you consider short-term and long-term kingdom building.
With that in mind, we are sponsoring a webinar to highlight these opportunities. Richard Blackmon of the Giving Crowd has been working with Christ Community Church for the past several years and has met personally with many of our members, providing valuable coaching at no cost to them. Additionally, Richard has held several workshops at CCC. In this webinar, Richard will focus on these topics:
2020 impact of the CARES Act and the unique implications/opportunities for cash gifts and IRA distribution.
The current best practices on how to include a charity in your will or trust.
Things you need to know about beneficiary changes from the SECURE Act.
IRA rollover provision for people over the age of 70.
Do you have an up to date will? Making sure your resources go where you want.
On October 8th, from 7- 8 pm, I will host a Webinar featuring Richard Blackmon where we will cover these crucial questions that are unique to this calendar year. We hope you can join us. You can register for this free webinar by clicking on the orange button below.
Thank you for taking the time to better understand how to steward God’s resources effectively. We hope that you, your family, and the Church at large are enriched by this effort. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Christ Community Church
At Christ Community Church, we firmly believe that God is the owner of everything we have (1 Chronicles 29:11-14, Psalm 24:1-2). He has lovingly entrusted each of us with resources, but as they still ultimately belong to him, we have the obligation to manage these gifts responsibly, and in a way that supports the primary goal of advancing his kingdom (Matthew 25:14-30).
The Bible is full of passages that advise us on how to steward these resources well, and the goal of the Financial Freedom ministry is to provide resources, teaching, accountability and encouragement which help you learn and adopt these biblical principles. We hope to facilitate opportunities that allow you to overcome financial burden and worry, so that you are truly free to give generously to the Lord’s work.
We believe the biblical baseline for our investment in kingdom work is a tithe, or 10% of our income. Jesus endorsed this standard (Matthew 23:23), and the Bible actually teaches that withholding tithes from the Lord is robbing him (Malachi 3:8), since when we tithe, we are just giving back to the Lord what is already his (1 Chronicles 29:14). Learn about our church’s full position on tithing HERE.
Failure to steward our resources well can actually lead to serious problems in our lives, such as materialism choking out our spiritual life (Mark 4:18-19, 1 Timothy 6:9-10), debt enslaving us (Proverbs 22:7), and God refusing to trust us with “true riches” (Luke 16:10-11). On the other hand though, when we are wise and generous stewards, we become like our generous God (John 3:16, 2 Corinthians 8:9, 9:15), we spread the love and message of Christ on earth (2 Corinthians 9:8-10), and we store up treasure for ourselves in heaven (Matthew 6:19-21).
