INPORTANT UPDATE ABOUT RIGHTNOW MEDIA
Starting on October 1, 2026, Christ Community Church will no longer have access to RightNow Media. If you have been an active user of RightNow Media, we’re sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. Over the past couple of years, RightNow Media has been underutilized, and we think there’s an opportunity to better steward our resources as a church.
COMMUNITY GROUP LEADERS
If you’re a Community Group Leader, please watch this video below to learn more about how this will impact the future of our Community Groups ministry. There are some really important and exciting updates we want to share with you!
FAQS
Our church staff has decided to have all of our Community Groups choose from the following three types of content:
▪️Sermon-based discussion: Community Groups engaging with the weekend message together, using the new discussion guides available each week.
▪️Bible Savvy: Community Groups using the COMMA method to study the Bible to help people become active, confident readers of Scripture.
▪️Christ Community-Specific Content: A curated selection of studies available through our bookstore, plus content through our new online platform at learn.ccclife.org.We spent several months praying and thinking carefully about what kind of content would best disciple the people in our church. And we came to a few conclusions:
First, we think this approach will help us better achieve our mission of making passionate disciples. By having our Community Groups go through the same content together, we think this will lead to more effective discipleship by processing weekly sermons and reading the Bible together in community. We think that will lead to people really applying the Scriptures to their everyday life.
Second, having our groups connected to the broader conversation of our church means that our Community Groups are not just healthy in isolation, but that we are growing together as a church family. Ultimately, we think there will be a lot of good things that come from this, and that it will lead to the kind of culture in our church where spiritual conversations become more normative.
Third, most of our Community Groups are already doing this. Sermon discussion and Bible Savvy have been part of our DNA for years. For most of our Community Groups, this transition is simply a deeper commitment to what they’ve already seen work.
Fourth, this better supports our leaders and makes it easier for them to select content. Having a limited number of options to choose from makes it simpler for our Community Group leaders to choose what content they should go through.
Fifth, this ensures that Community Groups are going through good content. While there’s a lot of excellent content available today, there’s also content that may not align well with the theological and discipleship direction of our church. We want to make sure that our Community Groups are going through things that we think are going to be the most helpful for their spiritual growth and formation. This is an important part of what it means to help care for our church, and we want to take that seriously. Not exactly. There's been a lot of good fruit from leaders being able to choose their own content for their Community Group. But the staff also recognized some challenges — leaders spending significant time searching for curriculum, groups going through content that wasn't connected to the discipleship priorities of our church, and the challenge of developing a thorough and timely vetting process for other content. This change is more about doing something better, and less about fixing something that’s broken.
Ideally, we want all of our Community Groups to have a balance of Sermon-Based Discussion and Bible Savvy. That said, there’s no set requirement. The three options exist to give groups some level of flexibility based on where they are.
The content on our online platform will grow over time. We also intend to regularly revisit the content we offer through our bookstore for Community Groups. Occasionally, campuses may offer in-person classes for Community Groups to go through. But other than that, we are asking for our Community Groups to always choose from one of these three options
While the books recommended from the stage are great, not all of them are conducive to going through together with a Community Group. For some sermon series, there will be books we recommend that tie in with that specific series. If your Community Group is interested, feel free to go through these books to add to your discussion around the sermon.
Most of our Community Groups are not using it, and the cost no longer makes sense for what we were getting. Most of what RightNow Media is being used for — kids content and our membership course — can be migrated to other platforms that will serve us better and more affordably.
RightNow Media access ends October 1, 2026.That's a fair concern, and it actually reflects something we love about you as a leader: you know your people, and you want to care for them well. That instinct is exactly right.
And to be honest, there are some trade-offs with this kind of decision. There are some things that have to be sacrificed in order to say “yes” to what we think is a better alternative. One of those sacrifices is having the leader choose what kind of content to go through.
But it’s worth mentioning that the spiritual needs of your group are also met by how you lead, not just by what you're studying. The questions you ask, the ones you follow up on, the way you create space for vulnerability, the care you show people outside of group time – that also shapes people spiritually. While the content can help facilitate meaningful conversations, content alone does not meet the spiritual needs that people have.
Sermon-based discussion in particular is flexible — the guide is designed to provide a structure, but where the conversation actually goes is entirely up to you and your Community Group. Leaders should feel the freedom to lean into the things the people in the group are most interested in discussing.
The point is that content is not the only factor in a group's spiritual growth. This means you still have a significant spiritual influence as a leader, even if you’re not hand selecting the content that you’d prefer to go through with your group.
Starting the weekend of August 15, there will be a new one-page guide available every week. Each guide will include key points from the message, relevant Scripture passages, discussion questions, prayer prompts, and practical application at times. For groups that want to go deeper, many sermon series will also have recommended books or resources available through our bookstore. You can find the guides the same way you currently access sermon discussion questions — through the QR code in the bulletin or in the sermon library on our website.
Learn.ccclife.org is a brand-new online learning platform where anyone in our church can take classes on specific topics. It will include our membership course, ministry trainings, and, over time, courses built specifically for the discipleship needs of our church. Over time, more courses will become available for Community Groups to go through.
A select number of studies will be available for purchase through our bookstore. But all of the content provided through the online platform will be free.
We are asking our Community Groups to start making this transition over the course of the next year. But in general, here are some important dates to keep in mind:
August 15, 2026: New weekly sermon discussion guides begin
October 1, 2026: RightNow Media access ends
August 2026 – Beyond: New courses will be made available at learn.ccclife.org for Community GroupsNot immediately. But if your Community Group rarely engages with Sermon Discussion or Bible Savvy, this is a good time to think about how you can incorporate more of it starting this fall so the transition feels more natural rather than abrupt.
Your voice matters. Please bring any concerns you have to your Community Group Coach or Ministry Director. This decision was made prayerfully, but our leaders are willing to listen and respond to any questions or concerns you may have.
Reach out to your Community Group Coach or your campus’s Ministry Director. Our staff genuinely wants to hear from you, whether it's a practical question or a concern.
