Dinner In A Hostile World: Obedience

We’re going to talk about obedience today. It’s not only a winsome character trait in dogs—it’s also an absolute must for people who want to be faithful and productive followers of Jesus Christ.

Christ followers live in a hostile world—a world that’s opposed to Jesus’ values and priorities and morals. The only way to resist this world’s influences—and to have a positive impact upon it—is to walk in obedience to Christ.

At the Last Supper Jesus was teaching his disciples, this group of close followers—not only how to survive, but—how to thrive in a hostile world. The key concept, which Jesus impresses on his followers in today’s text, is obedience.
