I Love My Church: Growing
January 18, 2015
Well, you may not be a lover of great poetry—but I want to focus on those last two lines from the Robert Frost poem.
"Two roads diverged in a wood, and I//I took the one less traveled by. And that has made all the difference."
Isn’t that a great picture? Life presents us with a number of forks in the road. We can go this way or we can go that way. And the decision we make will have a huge impact on our lives.
Interestingly—this is a BIG theme in the Bible. It pops up so often in the pages of God’s Word that Bible scholars have even given it a name. They call it: The doctrine of the two ways.
Well, today’s Scripture text is one of my favorite illustrations of this doctrine of the two ways. Turn to Psalm 1. Psalm 1 is about spiritual growth. There is a path we can take that leads to spiritual growth in our lives. BUT—there is also a path we can take that hampers—even destroys—our spiritual growth. Two paths—it’s up to us to choose the right path…every day. We’re going to talk about these two paths today.
