God’s Call to the Pleasant Street Neighborhood
October 21, 2020
God has called Christ Community Church to the Pleasant Street Neighborhood located in DeKalb. The Pleasant Street neighborhood is a Hispanic community close to CCC’s Outreach Center. There are hundreds of immigrants in the local area, including many single mothers as well as middle and high school youth. Currently, there are 11,468 persons residing in a one-mile radius of the Outreach Center.
Out of the 11,000+ residents in the neighborhood, there is a minimum of 2,300 Latinos in a one-mile radius of the OC and most of those are in the Pleasant Street neighborhood. The actual number could be higher due to the growing number of undocumented Latinos in the area.
The Outreach Center will be the center point for serving the Pleasant Street Neighborhood. Services will be provided there which serve the local neighborhood and draw people from that community into the building. It will serve as a place to build relationships – with each other, the community, the church, and ultimately with Jesus.
The vision of the Outreach Center is to create a bridge within the community to serve people in under-resourced neighborhoods by facilitating ongoing life-enhancing services that result in transformative experiences with Jesus. The Outreach Center will focus on addressing several critical needs in our community:
- Adult Education
- Family & Children
- Employment
- Multi-Cultural / Immigrants
Please pray with us that a significant number of people within a one-mile radius of the Outreach Center will have transformative experiences with Jesus, that have resulted in their own salvation, as a result of gospel saturation in the community.
