In August 2017, Hurricane Harvey made landfall in Texas as a Category 4 storm causing extensive damage to the state. Torrential flood rains continued for days as the storm moved inland destroying homes in the city of La Grange. Our Domestic GO Team traveled to La Grange in August to help Samaritan’s Purse build a home for a homeowner who suffered at the hands of this storm.

Our Team was invited to attend a home dedication while we were there. The house was being given to a woman who had lost everything in the flood.  The dedication was being done on the actual Three-Year Anniversary of the very day she lost her house. She, her children, her grandchildren, her parents, and her best friend were there for the dedication, as you can see in the photo.

There were tears of joy. Besides the keys to the house, she was given a Billy Graham Bible that is only given to new Samaritan’s Purse homeowners.  They then gave her a framed copy of the bill for the cost of building the house.  Stamped across the bill IN RED were the words PAID IN FULL.  They told her that it was stamped in red to remind her of the blood of Jesus who died to pay the debt she could not pay, and she should give the credit to God for her new home.  What a powerful message to her and her whole family!
